Amos Onasanya, a Nigerian, has taken up the position of Project Manager for Youth Employment in Agri-business and Sustainable Agriculture (ABUAD-IITA-AfricaRice IFAD Project). He is a Molecular Biologist, Biotechnologist and Plant Pathologist. He has an extensive experience in youth education and agribusiness training. His academic qualifications include HND Biochemistry and Applied Chemistry (1994) from Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Nigeria, PGD Medical Microbiology (2000), Masters in Biochemistry with specialization in Plant Pathology and Biotechnology (2008) and a PhD in Biochemistry (Plant Pathology and Molecular Biology) September 2012 all from Federal University of Technology, Akure, Nigeria.
He joined Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD) in February 2013 and became Professor of Biochemistry in October 2015. Prior to that he had worked in various capacities in AfricaRice as PDF Plant Pathology at Dar es Salaam, Tanzania Station (March 2011 to January 2012) and Ibadan Station (February 2012 to January 2013) as well as Research Assistant Plant Pathology at Bouake, Bamako and Cotonou Stations between April 2001 to January 2011. He also worked with IITA, Ibadan, Nigeria between June 1995 to April 2001 as both NYSC member and Research Supervisor Biotechnology. He won the 2009 Japan International Award for Young Agricultural Researcher.
